この映画は過去に何回も見たことのあるお気に入りです。舞台はイギリスのイングランド中部シェフィールドの工業都市です。ストーリーは失業中いわゆる無敵のおっさんたちが一発奮起してストリッパーになるといったところです。当方しがないおっさんとしては勇気をもらいました。人前でフルモンティーするのは日本では公然わいせつなので(当たり前ですが…)我が家の愛猫にでも今夜披露します。

この映画で話されている英語は工業地帯が舞台とあって労働者階級の話す英語、しかもスラング満載です。BBCのようなPoshな英語はニュースや講演などでよく耳にするので知識を広めるのにはいいかもしれないですが、名もない地元のバーなどで現地の人に溶け込みたいのであれば、まさしくこの英語といったところです。
