    英国王のスピーチ

    前回ザ・ネヴァーズの貧民王の英語でへこみましたが、同じ王でも今回は英国王の話。同じ英語でもここまで違うと別言語に感じます。 今回は上流階級の人々しかでてこないので、 Sublimely happy. l solemnly promise. They add solemnity. など  語彙が洗練されています。

    今回は吃音に悩まされたイギリス王ジョージ6世の話。セラピーの一環として国王に全く似つかわしくないＦワードなどを発生練習に織り交ぜていました。というのも 本人が激高しているときはスムーズに言葉が出てくるからです。この映画の人気の理由は、第２次世界大戦前夜の国民を鼓舞するスピーチなどとても厳粛な雰囲気の中で、チンピラ言葉を使って練習するギャップなのかと思います。３流役者がいわゆる輩の言葉を発すると大げさになる傾向があると思うのですが、主演のコリン・ファースは王族としての品位なのか抑制の効いたののしり言葉を練習するところがいいですね。
    国王がShit, Shit, Shit, Shit, Shit, Shit!　（くそ！くそ！くそ！くそ！くそ！くそ！）と練習しているともう一人の主人公である言語セラピストであるライオネル・ローグが、Yes！ defecation flows trippingly from the tongue. （その調子。口からの排便はとてもスムーズでございます。）と褒めているシーンなどユーモアたっぷりのところが、この映画が数々の賞を受賞した理由の一つかと思います。
