炎のランナー

1981年公開のイギリスのドラマ映画。チャ チャ チャチャチャチャーンではじまるテーマソングはジョーズのドゥー ドゥン 同様よく知られたメロディーです。そのせいなのかよくパロディーで使われてしまい、この映画を鑑賞するにあたってその先入観を払しょくするのにちょっとした苦労が必要でした。名曲 ”哀愁のヨーロッパ” を聞くと志村けんのコントを思い出す感じ。本来この映画はスポーツの魅力を存分に味わえる作品であり、観る者に勇気と希望を与えてくれるはずなのですが … 
英語に関しては、1919年のケンブリッジ大学の二人のアスリートが主人公で、上流階級の英語のはずですが今回は難しく感じました。主人公の一人エリック・リデルが(実際もスコットランド出身)で故郷のスコットランドに戻り地元民と交流する場面があるのですが、その中である一人の少年のスコッツ訛りの英語が、なまりすぎて一言もわかりませんでした。例えば この少年のIs it okay if my dad comes?のセリフ(O.5秒)この中1レベルの英語がフニャフニャとしか聞こえないんだよなー。本当許せんわ!お前将来アナウンサーにはなれないよなと言ってやりたい。なんか全体的に音声がモノログすぎて肝心な細部が聞こえないことが多々あり、苦労しました。
