1985年のダブリンを舞台にした 男子高校生の人生が、一目惚れした女の子の気を引くためバンドを結成することで変化していく様子を描いた映画。ほとんどの文化の根底にあるのは異性の気を引くことが大きな要素になる気がします。当方、今は自称英語オタクですが、数十年前までは音楽が今の英語にとってかわっていた時代がありましたので、今回の映画の少年たちの熱意に昔の血がたぎる思いです。映画とはいえこの少年たちのバンド”シング・ストリート”は完成度が高く、同級生の女の子に人気が出るのもわかります。ちなみに当方、音楽をやっていて異性にもてたことは一度ありませんけどね。

英語に関して、 バンド『シング・ストリート』のマネージャー・カメラマン のダレン少年のこてこてアイリッシュは難易度高いです。その彼を 除いては、ダブリンが舞台の割には聞きやすい部類に入ると思います。
