    さらば青春の光

    1979年のイギリス映画。1960年代初期のイギリスのユース・カルチャーの2大勢力だったモッズとロッカーズの生態や両者の対立を軸として話が展開していく。スコットランドのドラッグに溺れる青年たちを描いたトレインスポッティング同様、終始退廃的な雰囲気であふれています。ドラッグ、暴力、セックス、10代ときたら、 その未熟さゆえに無茶なことばかりをしているのですが、同時に既定路線を突き進む大人社会にはない若者特有のパワーを感じます。
    舞台はロンドン、労働者階級たちが主人公。ここしばらく映画の世界の中で労働者階級たちの人々とはかなりのご無沙汰状態なのであまりの発音の違いとスラング満載の表現にかなり面喰らいました。今回のモノログの音声とあいまって、リスニングとしては最難関の一つと言えるでしょう。視聴後にここまでつかれたのは、同じくロンドンのアンダーグランドを舞台にしたロック、ストック&トゥー・スモーキング・バレルズ以来です。この手のリスニングを鍛えるためには、BBC放送のような英語を何十年聞いていても理解はできません。現実逃避したくなるドラッグに溺れる青年の気持ちが少し分かります。今夜飲まなきゃやってられない。
