今回In The Darkは２部構成。後半はマンチェスターが舞台ですが、北部のヨークほどではないですが、地元のローカルアクセントが魅力的。一方In The Dark はタイトル通り暗い犯罪系の２０１７イギリスドラマ。マンチェスターは規模で言うとロンドンに次ぐ都市なのでその分、裏社会も強力。今回消化不良な点が３つほど。
①前半最後で主人公ヘレンが少女期に性的暴行を受け犯人を告発することを決意するのですが、その行方は？
②主人公ヘレンが浮気をして身ごもったことをパートナーに告白して疎遠になったのに、後半ではどのように寄りを戻したのか。
③裏社会の者に殺されたテオとその後は？
以上気になった点ですが、後半の話はプロットがよくできていて、ハラハラさせられました。全４話しかないので、是非続編で上記の点を解決していただきたい。
今回のドラマを見ていると、イギリスの路地裏は避けたほうがいいような気がしてきました。少なくとも紳士だけの国ではない。そういえばジャックザリッパ―もまだ捕まってなかった。
